Z Fold 7 Fold-Crease Dead Pixels

The Z Fold 7's inner display folds down the middle of the 7.9" panel. The fold crease concentrates mechanical stress on a specific row of pixels. Dead pixels at the crease can appear after months of normal folding use — this is distinct from impact damage and Samsung's warranty treats it differently.

Samsung's warranty position on Z Fold 7 crease dead pixels:

  • Dead pixels at the crease from normal use (no visible physical damage) are generally covered in the first year
  • Samsung requests documentation: photos of the dead pixel on multiple colour backgrounds, and a description that confirms no drop occurred
  • Claims made within 3 months of first appearance have the highest approval rate
  • Inner screen out-of-warranty replacement: approximately $599 — always worth claiming warranty first

How to Test Both Z Fold 7 Displays

  1. Open the phone fully. Dial *#0*# to open Samsung's built-in display diagnostic.
  2. Cycle Red, Green, Blue, Black, White on the inner display. Inspect the centre fold crease closely — approach from multiple angles in a dark room.
  3. Exit diagnostics, fold the phone, and run this browser test on the outer display. Inspect all four corners and edges.
  4. Note exact pixel positions (distance from crease, distance from edge) for the warranty claim.
