Dead Pixel Test on AMOLED vs LCD Android Phones
AMOLED (Samsung, Google Pixel, OnePlus, Xiaomi flagships): Dead pixels appear as completely black dots on any colour background. Stuck pixels appear as bright coloured dots on a black background. AMOLED can also develop burn-in — test on a neutral 50% grey to distinguish burn-in from dead pixels.
LCD (older budget Androids, some Motorola): Dead pixels on LCD appear black because they are not receiving an electrical signal. LCD does not develop burn-in (image retention on LCD is temporary). White screen testing is most effective for LCD dead pixel detection.
